Dardanelles is one of the world’s narrowest straits used for international navigation. This 38 mile long strait divides the continents of Europe and Asia and is the sole waterway between the Aegean and Marmara seas.

For this reason the Dardanelles has for millennia been a strategic gateway for both shipping trade and military campaigns to Istanbul and the Black sea.

Bosporus Strait

It is a busy waterway with over 48,000 ships passing through annually, in particular oil tankers delivering 55 million tons of oil each year.
